May is Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month

In Texas, most motorcycle crashes happen in May May marks the start of Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month when drivers of all other vehicles and all road users are reminded to safely “share the road” with motorcyclists, and to be extra alert to help keep motorcyclists safe. Motorcycle Safety Forum works to decrease fatalities

May is motorcycle safety month: a look at the state effort

Despite a decline in motorcycle related fatalities, safety experts say much work is still left to do. According to the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), 434 motorcyclists were killed in Texas in 2009, an 18 percent reduction from the previous year. Nationwide, the number of motorcyclist fatalities showed a 16 percent reduction.
