Workshop Topics
Appreciate your LATCH Book
Is your LATCH manual tucked away in your checkup supply kit or tech box? Is it intimidating to you? This session will help technicians get the most out of their LATCH manual, using it as a reference guide to help with important decisions such as vehicle seating positions, lower anchor weight limits, lower anchor use with boosters and those crazy tethers in pick-up trucks. For maximum benefit from this session, BRING YOUR LATCH MANUAL!
Selection, Location, and Harnessing
Get some practice with selecting a car seat, thinking through a proper location in the vehicle, and harnessing with various scenarios and car seats, remembering your good, better, best options.
Belts, Latchplates, and Retractors
Has it been a while since you have provided child passenger safety education in the field? This station will provide an opportunity for you to use your Learn, Practice, Explain (LPE) skills and with an emphasis in communication with the families. This topic will assist when trying to get checked off for recertification.
Locking Clip, Lock-offs and Tensioners
Do you know the difference between a lock-off and a tensioner in a car seat? Become more familiar with some locking technology features in car seats that are on the market and alleviate any confusion on the topic.
