2019 Texas Child Passenger Safety Conference (logo)

July 29–31, 2019

Doubletree by Hilton – Austin
6505 Interstate Highway-35 North
Austin, Texas 78752

Keynote Speaker
Terry Smith, Utah Department of Public Safety Highway Safety Office

Terry Smith

Terry began his law enforcement career in 1977 working as a city officer, then joined the Utah Highway Patrol in 1979, from which he retired in 2004. According to Terry, he has been in child passenger safety such a long time he tells people he “helped wrap Moses and send him down the Nile.” What was it like to be a young, new police officer ready to save the world? Terry recalled his career, starting at a small police department to later joining the state highway patrol. He discussed his work in crash investigation and the day he responded to a crash that made a profound impact on his future.
