Stage 1: Emphasis Area Round-Robin Briefings

The 2017 Traffic Safety Conference is your chance to help shape the Texas Strategic Highway Safety Plan (SHSP).

This year’s conference is designed to give you the opportunity to learn about and participate in the development of the SHSP. The SHSP will set the priorities for improving traffic safety in Texas in the near term.  The intent is to develop a state plan that all safety professionals, of all agencies and groups, can support, be part of and take action on.

  • All attendees will be assigned to one of seven groups.
  • Your group number will be listed on your nametag.
  • Each group will have a chaperone with a colored vest (a pied piper of sorts) to lead each group from one emphasis area to another.

Stay with your group’s chaperone, and they’ll lead you to the right session. Today, you will attend a total of seven round-robin briefing sessions. Each session will last about 30 minutes, and you’ll have a chance to rank safety countermeasures in each emphasis area.
